seed the love

seed the love

I have come to understand that this begins by seeing the other within myself, and myself within the other.

Seeing myself within the watersheds and within the pollinators.

Seeing myself within the most vulnerable of our society.
Seeing myself within those I do not see eye-to-eye with.

Living in relationality & reciprocity is an intention I seed with this creation.

the Intention

Seeds are symbols of one path ending, while simultaneously holding the potential of new beginnings. Birth, life, decay, death, and renewal. It’s miraculous how much life & possibility are contained within seemingly miniscule sources.

We carry many seeds within us. Those of vision, song, culture, ancestors, old ways, future generations, and ever-unfolding connections. The nature of these seeds are largely determined by us — are you planting bitterness, or are you planting compassion?

This is what I seek to capture and share here; that in each moment there is the possibility to seed a new story.

This creation has helped me process a core question I've been living into — how do I exist in reciprocity?

Materials of the Crests

I appreciate artwork that can be woven into our daily lives. These were made to be worn or hung as a little beacon that signals the intention of loving connection.

These crests were made using a combination of upcycled and natural materials that will more easefully decompose & return to the Land.

The cotton cloth and thread: representing the weavings of our relations.
The burned wooden token: representing our grounded vision for harmony & potential.
The copper beads: representing the seeds, the wisdom we receive for a new world to emerge.

the Invocation

In every moment we hold an opportunity
to seed a new story
for as we know: the fruit we receive reflects the seeds we sow
may they be seeds of love & relations

and may they be abundant
so that the miraculous may emerge in any moment

the Receivers

A core set of 12 was made as an offering for the Q’ushin’tul Ancestors & Unity Walk, which was held on Salt Spring Island this year.

The Unity walk is an Elder-led gathering, under the generous leadership of Quw’utsun Elder, Qwiyahwultuhw (Robert George).
